Hotel the match customer reviews

We had booked a wheelchair accessible room via the website, and my confirmation email mentioned this fact. Upon arrival, the accessible room was not available anymore and essentially the staff told me that I should have made a special request. Obviously I wanted to show them the confirmation because I *specifically* booked this hotel for the accessible room, but they didn't even want to look at it. Their reply that they couldn't do anything and that I had to contact them via email to follow up and try to get compensation for this didn't lead anywhere, since my emails are just being ignored. So if something goes wrong with this place, as a customer, they politely tell you to go screw yourself, it seems.

Very nice place. The staff were really polite and good at their job. The room was clean and had everything that you could need. The location was the best l, really central and you could walk everywhere.

I have chosen this hotel in Eindhoven primarily because of its pricing and convenient location. It offers easy access to all the city center attractions within walking distance, and the surrounding streets are have restaurants and supermarkets. I appreciated the creative approach taken to decorate the rooms with graffiti wallpapers, also main hall decorations downstairs, giving the hotel this funky atmosphere. One thing I disliked the shower next to the bed, resulting in some unwanted humidity in the room. While the overall cleanliness of the room was ok, I was disappointed to find that there were no slippers provided, and the floor was sticky. Whenever I had a question to the hotel staff, it felt like they were putting a lot of effort to answer and had this why are you bothering me attitude.

I've stayed here before and this is the second time in a row I've been allocated a room and when I've gone in with my card there has been either a person or another person's belongings in there. Last time I stayed it was a bloke in the bed and this time the room had loads of bags and stuff in it. My replacement room smelled badly of feet so nope. The third room was fine but the tv didn't work. The tv repair guy was on holiday apparently so nothing they could do about it. Bleh. Overall fine, quiet and relatively clean. Staff were helpful to the extent that they could be. No fridge or kettle in the room and the hot drinks available from the little machine were overpriced. On the plus side the windows open which is a big thing for me. Overall fine but the giving me another person's room key thing left me wondering if my stuff would be secure when i was out in case they gave my room to someone else. 2 stars.

Nice hotel for a couple of nights. The hotel is quite cool and chic and the room looks nice but it was not the most practically designed i.e. lack of hanging space for clothes and towels, shower opens out right next to bed. The location was pretty good, close to coffee shops and restaurants and short walk from Philips museum and main shopping centre. The self service shop was useful. Some nice tourism guide books available to borrow. There is a bit of bike parking outside within the gated complex (however the gates were open during the daytime). Would stay again if in Eindhoven for a couple of days.

Stayed for 2 nights to explore Eindhoven. Parking in basement was very handy and stairs took us straight up to an easy self check in. Room was clean and comfortable. Hotel Shop was handy for snacks and drinks although slightly pricey. Lobby / lounge area was comfy and we used to watch the PSV game and play some pinball and pool. Location is perfect for the centre and is in an area of great restaurants and just 2 minutes walk to the main shopping area. Shower within the main body of a twin room is a little odd if your sharing with someone but would definitely recommend and found it good value through booking.com

Pros: Reasonably priced, nice area, close to local bars and the city centre. Hotel is situated around a 15-20 mins walk from the train station, modern interior, hairdryer available on request, TV/ safe within the room Cons: Room would of benefited from being cleaner. Be mindful, city tax is not included in the booking, 3.50€ pppn required upon arrival. Poorly organised hotel... reception staff messed up our room booking, resulting in another guest entering our room and staff members entering our room (before 8am) each morning of our two night stay. The second morning was rather intrusive, we were woken early by reception staff, they requested our name and questioned why we were in a room vacant on their system. On checking out the same staff members apologised and informed us our name was under a different room number on their system. We received an apology and were offered a snack from their shop..which we did not take up and left swiftly. A bizarre hotel experience, would not return.

Funky hotel close to little chic bars and the town centre. Market place shop for breakfast and helpful staff. Arty and comfortable with a large lounge and easy parking. Rooms were bare concrete/ street art walls and stylish facilities which all went together well.

Hotel just about ok, overpriced for what it is, uncomfortable bed and very noisy all night. Staff are the least helpful people I’ve ever come across in a hotel, ‘excuse me, where shall I put this empty bottle, is there recycling?’ (She was wearing The Match uniform otherwise I’d actually have thought I’d accidentally asked a guest to help me) Response - shrug and walk away accompanied by a look as if I’d asked her to give me her first born child. Signs everywhere telling you to ‘Stay Out’ and ‘You’re Not Welcome Here’ … now I get what they’re aiming for but I’m not sure who came up with this nonsense idea, all it does is alienate guests and make you feel, well, unwelcome as far as I can tell. The hotel itself was quite run down and the carpets were filthy with debris on the corridors and in the lift too. That coupled with being told pre check-in ‘we will search your room if there are any suspicious activities’ - sorry? What does that mean? Why do I feel like there was cctv in my room? Wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

We didn't even make it to the room. We arrived at check-in at 11AM and were told we were too early: check-in would be from 3PM until 2AM. When we came back at 10PM they had given our room to somebody else! Without informing us or anything. There we were, late in the evening stranded in a city without any free hotel beds. The Match did not offer any solution, so we had to take the night train home and miss the next day of conference. I have travelled quite a lot, but never have I experienced making a reservation for a room and upon arrival finding out that they have simply given it away. Very unprofessional.
