North fork hostel & inn customer reviews

I loved my stay here. Oliver, the owner, is great. The grounds are so peaceful. The building and shower is clean and quaint. I would love to return some day!

I camped in front of the North Fork Hostel while with a group from Adventure Cycling and had a wonderful time. There's something about this place that is magical. Oliver, who runs this hostel, is one of those rare human beings that you immediately know upon meeting is a gem of a person. I will definitely go out of my way to stay here again.

The North Fork Hostel is in such a charming, off-beat area. We went for one night and really only slept at the hostel as we arrived at dinner time (loved the nearby Northern Lights Saloon!) and left after breakfast from the nearby Mercantile. Oliver was helpful and lent us headlamps to use after dark, since there is no electricity and we had not thought to bring flashlights. Linens are not provided, but can be rented for a $5 fee. A fun, funky place for sure. If you go to Glacier, make the effort to make one of your nights here!

Oliver runs a very excellent rustic hostel. We pitched tents in the front “yard” and enjoyed the River, kitchen, deck and common room. Access to the Polebridge Merc and Saloon are great.

I had a great stay at the hostel this past weekend. It is very rustic and perfect for those looking to experience the great beauty of the area. It is very close to Glacier National Park and Oliver is a fantastic host.

I stayed here eons ago. It was a perfect quiet rustic place in the early 1990s. I am so glad it is still a hostel!

Loved our stay at the Square Peg Cabin, a rustic homestead a stone's throw from the Polebridge Mercantile. Friendly and helpful owner. The surrounding area...

My wife and I rode our mountain tandem bike over Whitefish Divide and camped at the North Fork Hostel. I emailed Oliver the day before that we were coming and he told us to make ourselves at home as he would be home from work after 5:30. We showered (quickly), pitched our tent and took in the area before Oliver arrived. The hostel is off the grid. Solar power. Propane gas. Outhouses. If you look beyond the rough edges, Polebridge is a gem of a place to visit. At night, we were at the saloon in town as the sun and moon finally set. There are not many outside lights in Polebridge. It was a clear night and the stars came alive. My wife who is visually impaired could actually make out stars and the Milky Way. Of all of the nights on our cycling adventure, that was the most magical. The North Fork Hostel is very very cyclist friendly.

We loved our stay at North Fork Hostel. Oliver is the host and he runs a tight ship. We stayed in Klondike Kate's cabin and the Goat Chalet - both great. We had the use of kitchen and bathroom (long drop toilet outside). It is everything you can expect from a rustic, off-the-grid hostel/camp ground - it's not the place for you if you don't like camping or having to get a little wet, or dirty hands or don't like the dark!

This is a great option for park visitors who want to get away from the crowds, and away from civilization, without giving up a comfortable bed and roof overhead. There was a hot shower, which was great after a long day of hiking in the park! A full kitchen was available. The owner and other hostel guests were very warm and welcoming. I will definitely try to stay here again on future visits to this part of Glacier Park.

Oliver is fantastic! The hostel is extremely clean and has everything you need. The hostel is right down the road from the store. You can stay inside the hostel, in a cabin out back, or in a teepee. There is a cat that lives in the hostel who is quite the host! When we arrived Oliver was still at work, but the door was still unlocked. We were able to walk around and decide if we wanted to stay. The room we stayed in was upstairs in the hostel. It was very clean. The shower was also very clean. You do not need to bring your own sheets/towels. This is also a very cheap way to stay in Glacier! The hostel is close to some beautiful lakes. I stayed in June 2015.

We rode the bicycles here for an overnight, up from the West Glacier area. We booked the couple room, other in the group had cabins, bunks or camped. It was great coming to a place that was a little off the grid. The outhouse has great art. The view of the river is amazing. And it is just a short walk to the mercantile and the Northern Lights for some dinner I would lover to return sometime soon. Just with a bicycle and a book for a few days. Oliver was an outstanding host.
